I decided to rip my CDs into mp3. My iTunes didn't seem to agree with me. Instead, it kept popping up an error message saying: "itunes drivers for importing and burning cds and dvds are missing" -- which freaked me out because I had been updating all my laptop drivers and other settings using the VAIO and Windows update applications.
So how to go about fixing this? I researched on Google the exact phrase, and came up with a ton of solutions. Some tell you to simply uninstall iTunes, restart your computer, then reinstall iTunes. Which does absolutely nothing. Some tell you to go to GEAR and download the newest drivers. Which does absolutely nothing. Then someone commented on a post to try fixing the registry entry. Which fixed it. This is the entry, and this is the instructions, in case the link dies at some point:

When I went to the registry entry, there was not an entry for UpperLimit so I added one, as follows:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
I created a new “Multi String Value” within this key (very important to select Multi String Value).
I named it UpperFilters, and then double clicked it to add the GEARAspiWDM text WITH a carriage return.
This resolved my problem.
