Tech Tips for Basic Computer Users

Really good foundations or how-to article appeared on the New York Times in October of 2008 (which is really old, I know, but it doesn't hurt to share it).

Some of the tech tips they recommend basic computer users know are:
  • double-click text to select it, it will appear highlighted
  • combine the CTRL key and the scroll on your mouse to enlarge or shrink font on a web site
  • look for sensor size when purchasing a digital camera, megapixels aren't as important
  • many cell phones allow you to press the send key to pull up a list of recently called numbers
  • using quotes around key words when searching with Google or any other search engine, provides closer results
  • you can switch from one program to another, if both are open, by simply pressing ALT + TAB for Windows users -- Command + TAB for Apple users
Check the article for more basics.
